50 different artists from around the world have joined forces to celebrate 50 years of Amnesty International with “Toast To Freedom.” Co-written by Larry Campbell of Levon Helm’s band and guitarist Carl Carlton (who has worked with the likes of Robert Palmer, Eric Burdon, and Keb’ Mo’), the tune was released on May 3 – also known as World Freedom Day.
In the same vein as “We Are The World,” an all-star line-up of singers, musicians, actors, and artists pulled together to create “Toast To Freedom” including: Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Angelique Kidjo, Ewan McGregor, Donald Fagen, Warren Haynes, Eric Burdon, Taj Mahal, Florent Pagny, Marianne Faithfull, Rosanne Cash, Shawn Mullins, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. The late Levon Helm also participated in this unique project.
