Police seize 37 pounds of marijuana, more than 300 plants and about $24,000 in cash from across Orange County.
A month-long investigation has led to five arrests and the seizure of more than $200,000 in marijuana, authorities said Thursday.
Anthony Mave, 46, of San Clemente was arrested near Newport Boulevard and 16th Street in Newport Beach on Jan. 6 after he was found in possession of 24 pounds of “high-grade” marijuana, police said.
On the same day, while serving a search warrant, Newport police found a complex marijuana-growing operation inside a Laguna Niguel residence. Detectives seized about 300 marijuana plants, four pounds of cultivated marijuana and cash there, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
Christopher E. Go, 24, of Laguna Niguel was arrested at the residence, which was believed to be his home, on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and the illegal cultivation of marijuana, Lowe said.
Police also arrested Christy C. McAllister at her boyfriend’s Lake Forest home Jan. 6 on suspicion of selling marijuana to Newport police detectives in December, according to Lowe. Evidence collected there led detectives to a commercial building in Huntington Beach, where authorities found another complex growing operation and nine more pounds of “high-grade” marijuana, according to the release.
Daniel J. Wooten, 36, and Trayci M. Tursack, 34, both of Huntington Beach, were arrested at the building on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale.
In total, detectives seized 37 pounds of marijuana, more than 300 marijuana plants and about $24,000 in cash.
