Week 7 of bloom is upon us. The Jock Horror, two Kaya Golds and the Aurora Indica are all entering the “zone”, harvest zone that is.
Kaya Gold and Aurora Indica both have listed harvest times of 7 – 9 weeks. IN the real world, I like to think 9 – 10 realistically though there are always exceptions. Our Jock Horror is truly an exception as the normal flower time is 9 – 11 weeks, this particular phenotype generally finished by late week 8.
The Jock will probably be the first to harvest, though the trichomes will tell.
Both Kaya Gold marijuana plants have been trouble free and easy to grow. They were the first to begin blooming, have budded nicely and look to harvest on time. Plant #1 did hit slight issues with the pH drop*, plant #2 was unphased.
*I’ve been battling issues in mid to late bloom with the plants failing almost overnight. I’d flush the roots to no avail, run off would still settle out at 5.5 – 5.3pH. After some research I noted that Fox Farm Ocean Forest seems to have changed the blend. It starts off fine at 6.5 – 6.3 but goes very acidic, even with my norm of adding 1 TBSP of Dolomite Lime per gallon of soil.
Sterling Haze take a bit more talent (than I have currently) to do right. The rough appearance of some of the tinged fan leaves indicate that they are more temperamental as to soil, pH and feeding changes than the rest of the group.
I really hope I’ve caught & fixed the pH issue in time for these ladies to really bounce back and kick ass. They have a 10 – 12 week bloom time, so we shall see…
The Maui Waui’s look like beasts, reminiscent of old school Hindu Kush phenotypes of yester year. Though these phenotypes (Indica Dominant) didn’t truly show up in Hawaii till the mid-1980’s, The aroma is reminiscent of the Aloha State! These have a supposed 9 – 11 week bloom, but since they don’t look anything like the description, Who knows?
